About La Radio de Sudcalifornia 99.1 FM
La Radio de Sudcalifornia is the public radio service of the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico, broadcasting on 99.1 FM from La Paz. It mixes Spanish-language music, mainly romantic and grupera titles, with local news, sports coverage and public-interest programmes.
The station is run by the Instituto Estatal de Radio y Televisión de Baja California Sur (IERT), the state government's public media agency, which also operates other radio and television outlets in the region. Its 99.1 FM signal is carried by several transmitters across the state, including La Paz and Los Cabos, and the service grew out of the state's AM station XEBCS, which began broadcasting in 1984.
Listeners can expect morning music and request shows, regional Mexican and accordion-driven grupera programmes, local sports news, a 1980s music slot on Fridays, and segments about culture, women, children and the prevention of family and gender violence. The programme schedule is published on the IERT website and may change over time.
The stream on RadioKite is an MP3 feed at 128 kbps, stereo, and identifies itself as 99.1 FM La Radio de Sudcalifornia.
