BBC Radio 5 Live

BBC Radio 5 Live is the BBC's station for news and sport, with live match commentary, phone-ins and reports. The schedule includes breakfast and daytime news programmes, debates, interviews with public figures, football commentary and analysis, coverage of cricket, rugby, tennis and other sports, and late-night discussion. Listener participation is central, with phone-ins and messages that shape the conversation, and the station is known for its lively, conversational tone.

The station launched in 1994 and has become a main source of live sport in the United Kingdom, with rights to major events and the ability to switch quickly from news to a sports broadcast. As a service of the BBC, it is funded mainly by the licence fee and carries no commercial advertising within the United Kingdom. The language is English, with a British perspective, which makes it useful for those who want to follow British debates. This listing is the standard-quality stream, and the broadcaster does not declare a fixed codec in the metadata. Some programmes and sports rights may be restricted outside the United Kingdom, which can affect what is available. It plays in your browser on RadioKite, and you can add it to your favourites.
