Radio Rai 1

Rai Radio 1 is the news, talk and sports channel of RAI, the Italian state public broadcaster. It carries live news bulletins, current-affairs and discussion programmes, and popular music, and it is best known for its sports coverage, including live commentary on Italy's national football team and on Serie A and Serie B matches.

The channel descends from the first radio station to broadcast in Italy, which began transmitting from Rome on 6 October 1924, and it has carried the Radio 1 name since a 1975 reform. Programming is in Italian and is aimed at a general national audience. Well-known programmes include the morning talk show Radio anch'io. Its official online home is the RaiPlay Sound platform.

Listeners can expect a mix of spoken-word programmes through the day, with music between and around them, and live event coverage when major sports fixtures take place. This stream is delivered over HTTPS as MP3 at 256 kbps in stereo, a high bitrate that suits both home and mobile listening.
