Deutschlandfunk Nova
About Deutschlandfunk Nova
Deutschlandfunk Nova is a German public-service radio programme from Deutschlandradio, aimed mainly at a younger audience of up to about 29 years. It combines spoken features, science and society topics, news and interviews with a selection of music, and is broadcast in German.
The programme began in 2010 as DRadio Wissen and was renamed Deutschlandfunk Nova in 2016 as part of a rebranding of the Deutschlandradio stations. It is a digital-only service, available through digital radio, apps and online streams rather than FM. Most of the programme is produced in Cologne, while the evening slot is made in Berlin. As a public broadcaster it is funded through the German broadcasting contribution and works to an editorial remit of information, education and culture.
Listeners can expect knowledge-oriented reports, explainers and discussion alongside music. This stream is an Ogg Opus feed at 64 kbps, delivered over HTTPS, which gives good quality at modest data use.
