About Deutschlandfunk Nova

Deutschlandfunk Nova is a German-language public radio programme aimed at curious, younger listeners. It mixes spoken-word journalism, news, science, culture and society reports with a selection of contemporary pop and alternative music, and it runs around the clock.

The station is part of Deutschlandradio, the national public broadcaster of Germany, alongside Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandfunk Kultur, and is financed through the public broadcasting contribution rather than advertising. Its editorial line is that of a public service broadcaster: reporting is expected to be balanced and independent, and the programme puts weight on explaining topics in depth, from research and education to everyday life.

Listeners can expect short news bulletins, conversations and features, interleaved with music rather than long uninterrupted playlists. Everything is presented in German. This particular stream is a low-bandwidth AAC feed (about 48 kbit/s), suitable for mobile connections and limited data plans, and it carries the same programme as the other Deutschlandfunk Nova streams.
