BBC Radio Cymru

BBC Radio Cymru is the BBC's Welsh-language station for Wales, with entertainment, music, news and sport. The schedule includes breakfast and daytime shows, news and current affairs in Welsh, sport, comedy, drama, music programmes and features about the culture, history and politics of Wales. The music ranges from Welsh-language pop and folk to rock, with a strong support for Welsh artists, and the presenters speak Welsh with warmth and humour.

The station was launched in 1977 and has become a central part of Welsh-language life, supporting the language and bringing together communities across the country, from Gwynedd and Ceredigion to the cities of the south. A second station, Radio Cymru 2, has been added as a companion. As a service of the BBC, it is funded mainly by the licence fee and carries no commercial advertising within the United Kingdom. The language is Welsh, which makes the stream valuable for learners who want to hear the language spoken naturally, and for Welsh speakers who live away from home. Because of rights, some programmes may be restricted outside the United Kingdom. The feed does not declare a fixed codec or bitrate in its metadata. It plays in your browser on RadioKite, and you can add it to your favourites.
