About BBC Radio Wales

BBC Radio Wales is the BBC's national English-language station for Wales, with music, news, sport and talk. The schedule includes news and current affairs from a Welsh perspective, phone-ins, comedy, arts and culture, football and rugby coverage, and a variety of shows that reflect the life of the country, from the valleys to the coast. The presenters speak in a variety of Welsh accents, and the tone is warm, informed and conversational.

The station began in 1978 and is an important voice in Welsh public life, covering the Senedd and offering programmes about history, community and sport, with a particular emphasis on rugby. A separate BBC station, Radio Cymru, broadcasts in Welsh. As a service of the BBC, Radio Wales is funded mainly by the licence fee and carries no commercial advertising within the United Kingdom. The language is English, with Welsh expressions, which makes it interesting for learners and for those who want to hear the sounds of Wales. Because of rights, some programmes may be restricted outside the United Kingdom. The feed does not declare a fixed codec or bitrate in its metadata. It plays in your browser on RadioKite, and you can add it to your favourites.
