About RNE Radio 5
RNE Radio 5 is the news channel of Radio Nacional de España, the public radio service of Spain's national broadcaster RTVE. It carries rolling news and information, with news bulletins, reports and analysis broadcast throughout the day in Spanish.
Radio 5 started on 1 January 1989 and was the first 24-hour continuous news radio service in Spain. It has carried several names over the years, including Radio 5 Todo Noticias. Its main production centre is the Casa de la Radio in Pozuelo de Alarcón near Madrid, and RNE's regional centres contribute local and regional news. As a public service, it is run by RTVE and operates under the editorial framework of the national public broadcaster.
Listeners can expect frequent headline updates, current affairs coverage, and a steady flow of news and information rather than music-led programming. The stream used here is an MP3 feed at 128 kbps, stereo. Detailed programme schedules change over time and are published on the RTVE website.
