RNE Radio 1 Madrid

RNE Radio 1 Madrid is the flagship news and talk station of Radio Nacional de España, the Spanish public radio, with news, current affairs and magazine programmes. The schedule is built around long live programmes, including the morning news show, political interviews, debates, reports from correspondents and magazine programmes that cover society, culture, health, consumer issues and sport. The tone is serious but accessible, and the coverage reflects the interests of a national audience.

RNE is part of RTVE, the Spanish public broadcaster, which is financed mainly through public funds and operates several radio stations, including Radio 3, which focuses on music, and Radio 5, which focuses on continuous news. Radio 1 is the general-interest voice of the network and one of the most followed speech stations in Spain. Because it is a public service, advertising is limited compared with commercial stations. The content is in Spanish, which makes it a useful resource for advanced learners who want to follow current affairs, and for Spaniards living abroad. The stream is delivered as MP3 at 128 kbps, which keeps speech clear and uses a moderate amount of data. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites.
