Kontrafunk

Kontrafunk is a German-language internet radio station run by Kontrafunk AG, a company with its address in Steckborn, Switzerland. It carries spoken-word programming around the clock, centred on politics and current affairs, with additional shows on culture, science and society. The station describes itself with the slogan "Die Stimme der Vernunft" (the voice of reason).

The schedule on the official website is organised into categories such as politics and current affairs, culture and science, everyday life, talk shows, a Swiss hour, church programmes and special broadcasts. Titles include the news programme Kontrafunk aktuell, the evening journal 18/20 and the Sunday discussion round Die Sonntagsrunde, alongside cultural formats like Audimax, Lesestunde and Musikstunde. Episodes can also be heard on demand and as podcasts.

The station has an openly stated editorial line that is critical of mainstream media, so listeners should expect opinionated commentary rather than neutral news reporting. The audience is primarily German-speaking listeners in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. The live stream is an MP3 feed at 192 kbit/s in stereo, which is a high-quality setting for a talk-focused station. Details about the station's funding and ownership beyond the operating company are not published on its homepage.
