3AW 693 Melbourne

3AW is a Melbourne talk station on 693 AM, with news, talk and sport. The schedule includes breakfast and daytime talk shows with well-known presenters, news bulletins, interviews with politicians and public figures, phone-ins, traffic and weather updates, and extensive coverage of Australian rules football, cricket and other sports. The tone is conversational and often opinionated, and the station has long been one of the most influential voices in Melbourne's media landscape.

Talk radio on the AM band has a strong tradition in Australia, and 3AW is among the most listened-to stations in the city, with an audience that tends to be older and engaged with local issues. The online stream makes it possible for Melburnians living elsewhere to follow local news and sport from afar. The programming is in English, with Australian accents and references. As a commercial service, it carries advertising and sponsor messages. This stream is delivered as MP3 at 48 kbps, a very low bitrate that keeps data use minimal and is adequate for speech, although the sound is less detailed than on higher-bitrate streams. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites.
