About ABC Radio National SA

ABC Radio National (RN) is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's national spoken-word network, and this is its South Australian feed. It carries news, interviews and long-form conversation on current affairs, arts, culture, science, health, ethics, religion and Indigenous issues, along with documentaries, drama and some music.

RN is a publicly funded service operated by the ABC and has been on air in various forms since 1923. The programming is in English and is largely the same national schedule heard across Australia. It is commercial-free and aimed at listeners who want in-depth analysis rather than headlines alone.

This stream is delivered as HLS, an adaptive AAC stream at roughly 115 kbps. Expect talk and discussion programmes, news bulletins and extended features, with many programmes also available later as podcasts from the ABC. Because it is a spoken-word service, it works well for listening at home, at work or in the car, and it rewards longer sessions of attention. Programme guides and episode archives are published by the ABC on its Radio National website.
