About ABC Classic

ABC Classic is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's national classical music radio network. This stream is the New South Wales feed and plays classical music including orchestral works, opera, recitals and live concert recordings, with presenters and programs from the ABC.

The station first went to air on 24 January 1976 as ABC-FM, became ABC Classic FM in 1994 and took its present name in January 2019. It is owned and publicly funded by the ABC, so it carries no commercial advertising. It is also available on FM and digital radio and through the ABC listen app.

Expect a broad range of classical repertoire, introduced in English by presenters, with concerts and special programs through the week. Listeners outside New South Wales can find other ABC Classic feeds through the ABC's website and apps, and the schedule is published on the ABC Classic page along with program notes and concert listings. This stream is delivered as HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) with AAC audio at roughly 252 kbps.
