KDFC Classical California

KDFC Classical California is a classical music station for the San Francisco Bay Area, with the ultimate playlist of classical works. The programme offers a friendly and accessible mixture of orchestral music, chamber works, piano pieces, opera excerpts and film and contemporary classical compositions, with hosts who introduce the music in an informal and welcoming way. The selection is designed to appeal to long-time lovers of classical music and to newcomers.

KDFC has a long history in the Bay Area as the main classical music station and is now operated by a non-profit organisation, Classical California, that is supported by listeners' donations. The station also presents local concerts and community events and has a network of sister stations across the state. The language is English, with minimal talk between the pieces, which makes the stream a calm companion for work, study and relaxation. The stream is delivered as AAC+ at 96 kbps, an efficient codec that provides a clear sound at a moderate bitrate and works in most current browsers and on phones. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites.
