About Capital Community Radio 101.7
Capital Community Radio is a volunteer-run community station in Perth, Western Australia, broadcasting on 101.7 FM, on DAB+ as Capital Digital, and online. The station says it plays music from the golden years of radio, roughly the 1940s to the early 1980s, and its stream metadata lists it as Seniors Radio. This stream is an MP3 feed at 192 kbps.
The station began in 2000 as an idea to serve Perth's older listeners, who volunteers felt were not catered for by other stations. It started on 90.5 FM in 2003 and moved to 101.7 FM in September 2010, which gave it coverage across the Perth metropolitan area, with a DAB+ simulcast from May 2011. It is a not-for-profit charity supported by grants, donations and memberships, and it is based at Wireless Hill Park in Ardross.
Expect familiar oldies and easy listening in English, presented by volunteers, alongside news about what is happening in the local community. The station estimates its audience at 80,000 to 100,000 listeners, a self-reported figure.
