About FBi Radio 94.5 FM Sydney
FBi Radio is an independent, not-for-profit community radio station in Sydney, Australia, broadcasting on 94.5 FM under the call sign 2FBI. It plays a wide mix of new and alternative music, with a strong focus on emerging artists, and also carries arts and culture programming. The station also streams online around the clock.
FBi began test broadcasting in 1995 after the last three Sydney FM licences were allocated, won a permanent licence in 2002, and went full-time in August 2003. It is operated by Free Broadcast Inc. and relies largely on volunteer presenters. The station has a policy that at least half of the music it plays is Australian, with half of that coming from Sydney musicians. A 2019 McNair survey estimated a monthly audience of about 580,000. From 2014 to 2017 it also ran a dance and electronic sister service called FBi Click.
The stream is an MP3 feed at 128 kbps in stereo, and programmes are in English. Listeners can expect an eclectic, discovery-driven sound with local bands, electronic, indie and alternative acts, plus presenter-led shows reflecting Sydney's music scene.
