WDR 4

WDR 4 is a station of the German broadcaster WDR in North Rhine-Westphalia, playing oldies and German pop hits. The programme is aimed at an adult audience and combines the best-known songs of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s with schlager and German-language favourites, along with news, traffic, weather, regional information and light entertainment. The presentation is warm and familiar, designed to accompany the day at home, in the car and at work.

WDR, Westdeutscher Rundfunk, is one of the largest public broadcasters in Germany, financed through licence fees, and WDR 4 is its service for listeners who love melodic music of earlier decades. Because it is publicly funded, it carries limited advertising compared with commercial stations. For people from the region who live elsewhere, the stream offers a taste of home, and for learners of German it provides clear speech and well-known songs that are easy to follow. The stream is delivered as MP3 at 128 kbps, which gives a clear and balanced sound on most devices and keeps data use moderate. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites to keep this friendly companion within easy reach.
