Радио Свобода

Radio Svoboda (Радио Свобода) is the Russian-language service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), an international broadcaster. It provides news, current affairs, political analysis, investigations and cultural programmes aimed at Russian-speaking audiences, and the matching website covers war coverage, politics and culture, with regional projects such as Sibir.Realii and Kavkaz.Realii.

The service began in 1953 in Munich, West Germany, as part of RFE/RL, and has been based in Prague since 1995. RFE/RL, Inc. is a non-profit news organisation funded by the United States government through the US Agency for Global Media, and its stated mission is independent journalism for audiences in countries where press freedom is restricted. Programming is in Russian.

Expect mostly speech: newscasts, talk programmes, interviews and discussion, with some cultural content. The stream tested here is a 128 kbps stereo MP3 feed. The official site is svoboda.org, which also offers a schedule, podcasts and archives. Listeners can also follow the service through its mobile app and on demand through its website.
