Radio Exterior de España
About Radio Exterior de España
Radio Exterior de España (REE) is the international radio service of Radio Nacional de España (RNE), the public radio arm of the Spanish broadcaster RTVE. It carries news, current affairs, culture, society and music programming aimed at Spaniards living abroad and at Spanish speakers and listeners interested in Spain across the world.
The station has existed since 1942 and is owned and run by the Spanish public broadcaster. Its main language is Spanish, and it has also produced programming in other languages such as French, Arabic, English, Portuguese and Ladino, although the current schedule of these services should be checked on the RTVE website. Historically it reached listeners by shortwave, but today it is available mainly through online streaming and satellite platforms, in line with RTVE's public-service remit.
Listeners can expect a varied schedule of news bulletins, magazines, reports on Spanish and Latin American affairs, cultural programmes and music, presented in a public-service editorial style. The stream is an HLS feed delivering AAC audio at roughly 190 kbps in stereo, served over HTTPS and playable in modern browsers and apps that support HTTP Live Streaming.
