NRK Nyheter

NRK Nyheter is the news channel of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), the national public broadcaster of Norway. It focuses on news, current affairs and reports from Norway and abroad, and it has its roots in NRK's earlier round-the-clock news radio service, Alltid Nyheter, which began in 1997.

The channel is presented mainly in Norwegian and is free of advertising, funded as part of NRK's public service remit. It draws on NRK's newsroom and programmes, including replays of news and current affairs output from the broadcaster's other radio channels, which makes it a convenient way to catch up on the day's reporting.

Listeners can expect frequent bulletins, in-depth reports and discussion rather than music, in a neutral public service style governed by NRK's editorial principles. The stream is an AAC+ feed at roughly 160 kbps in stereo, delivered over HTTPS from NRK's content delivery network, and further programmes and on-demand audio are available through NRK Radio at radio.nrk.no.
