ABC Radio National
About ABC Radio National
ABC Radio National, branded RN, is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's national public radio network for talk, news and current affairs. It covers arts and culture, science, health, business, religion and ethics, music and Indigenous affairs, mixing interviews, documentaries and long-form discussion.
RN has its roots in Sydney's 2FC, which began broadcasting in 1924, and was named Radio National in 1985 before being rebranded as RN in 2012. It is funded and run by the ABC, a publicly owned broadcaster, and is available across Australia on AM and FM, digital radio and online. Programmes include Radio National Breakfast, The Science Show, Late Night Live and The Music Show. Speech is in English.
This stream is the New South Wales feed of the network, delivered as HLS with AAC audio at around 115 kbit/s over HTTPS. It is a continuous live broadcast, so what you hear follows the broadcast schedule of the day, published on the ABC website. It suits listeners who want thoughtful spoken-word programming rather than music.
