About triple j

triple j is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's national youth radio network, playing alternative and contemporary music with a strong emphasis on Australian artists. This stream is the New South Wales (Sydney) feed.

It began as Double Jay (2JJ) in Sydney on 19 January 1975 and is owned and publicly funded by the ABC, so it carries no commercial advertising. It has a local music quota of around 40 percent, writes its own youth-focused news bulletins and runs the weekday current affairs program Hack. It is best known for the annual Hottest 100 listener poll, held since 1989.

Expect indie and alternative rock, pop, hip hop and electronic or dance music, plus new Australian releases and talk from presenters, all in English. The station is also available on FM, digital radio and the ABC listen app across Australia, so the content is easy to follow wherever you are. This stream is delivered as HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) with AAC audio at roughly 252 kbps.
