SomaFM Drone Zone

This stream carries Drone Zone, one of the best-loved channels on SomaFM, served best chilled and safe with most medications. It plays atmospheric textures with minimal beats: long, evolving ambient pieces, spacious synthesizer drones, soft pads and slow, meditative electronics that seem to stretch time. The music hovers between calm and curious, suited to anyone who wants a sonic background that does not demand attention yet rewards it.

SomaFM is an independent, listener-supported internet radio station that has broadcast from San Francisco since 1999 and plays no commercials. Its tracks are picked by programmers who have followed ambient music for decades, which results in a seamless flow that can run for hours without a jarring change. This entry is the MP3 version at 128 kbps, which works on practically every browser, phone and smart speaker, and the artist and title are displayed whenever the track changes. RadioKite also lists another format of the same channel and a separate Drone Zone entry, which play the same programme, so you can choose whichever suits your device and connection. It is ideal for study, meditation, sleep and quiet work, and you can add it to your favourites.
