SR 3 Saarlandwelle

SR 3 Saarlandwelle is the Schlager and oldies station of Saarländischer Rundfunk, the public broadcaster of the German state of Saarland. The programme is aimed at an adult audience and combines familiar pop songs, Schlager favourites and oldies from the 1960s to the present with regional news, traffic, weather, local events and features on daily life in the small state on the French border. The presentation is friendly and conversational, with a recognisable regional tone.

Saarländischer Rundfunk is one of the smallest public broadcasters within the ARD network and is financed mainly through licence fees, so SR 3 carries limited advertising compared with commercial stations. For people from the region who live elsewhere, the stream is a way to keep in touch with home, and for learners of German it provides clear speech with a regional colour. Saarland has a distinct cultural identity, shaped by its history between France and Germany, which is reflected in the programming. This listing is the version at 128 kbps, delivered as MP3, which provides a clear and balanced sound on most devices and keeps data use moderate. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites.
