SWR4 Baden-Württemberg

SWR4 Baden-Württemberg is a regional station from the German public broadcaster SWR with local information, practical advice and a mix of international oldies and German pop hits. The programme is aimed at an adult audience and combines music from past decades with regional news, weather, traffic, local events and service features about health, consumer issues and everyday life. The presentation is friendly and familiar, with a strong focus on the identity of the south-western state.

SWR, Südwestrundfunk, is the public broadcaster for Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate, and SWR4 is one of its popular services, valued for its regional character. Because it is publicly funded, it carries limited advertising compared with commercial stations. For people from the region who live elsewhere, the stream is a way to keep up with local news, and for learners of German it provides clear and natural speech with regional colour. The music includes schlager and folk-flavoured material as well as pop and oldies. This stream is delivered as AAC at 96 kbps, an efficient codec that provides a good sound at a moderate bitrate and works in most current browsers and on phones. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites.
