About Sveriges Radio P2

Sveriges Radio P2 is the classical music and culture channel of Sveriges Radio, Sweden's public service radio broadcaster. It is heard on FM, on DAB digital radio and online, and this stream carries it as a 128 kbps AAC feed. The channel plays mainly classical music, together with jazz, folk and world music.

P2 started on 26 November 1955 as Sveriges Radio Program 2. After popular music moved to P3 in 1966, it settled on its current profile of classical music and programmes for minority-language audiences. Weekday schedules centre on classical music, with concert series such as Klassiska konserten i P2 and opera on Saturday evenings. Overnight, classical music arrives through the European Broadcasting Union's Euroclassic Notturno exchange. Jazz and folk and world music have their own programmes, and short news and culture bulletins appear through the day.

Outside Stockholm, the FM version carries P2 Språk och musik, which includes programmes in languages such as Finnish, Sami, Romani, Arabic and English for Sweden's minorities and multilingual listeners. The channel is funded and run by Sveriges Radio AB, and its main language is Swedish.
