About Bartók Rádió

Bartók Rádió is a Hungarian public radio station devoted to classical music, with jazz and cultural and literary programming alongside it. It is named after the composer Béla Bartók and is one of the national channels of Hungarian public radio, whose management passed to the state media service MTVA in 2011. The station was also known as MR3-Bartók Rádió, a name used between 2007 and 2012.

The station traces its history to Magyar Rádió, whose FM service began in the 1950s, and it has carried the Bartók name since 1987. In Budapest it broadcasts on 105.3 MHz FM. Programmes are in Hungarian and include orchestral concert broadcasts and shows such as Notturno and Muzsikáló Reggel.

Listeners can expect a mix of recorded and live classical music, with presenter introductions in Hungarian, plus occasional jazz and arts features. The stream is delivered over HTTPS as MP3 at 320 kbps in stereo, a high bitrate that suits classical music well and plays in any modern browser or app.
