Akademieradio

Akademieradio is an online sound-art radio station run from the Akademie der bildenden Künste München, the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. It broadcasts a round-the-clock stream of experimental audio: original music, interviews, sound pieces and other works submitted by the academy's community.

The project is a collective effort of students, alumni, professors and staff of the academy, and is also known under the name Störfunkanstalt _42. Submissions are played in random order without presenter commentary, and the archive is large enough that repetition is rare. Beyond the stream, the project runs live shows, productions, interactive exhibitions and radio workshops. The website is mainly in German, with some English labels, and the audio content is varied and often wordless or experimental.

Listeners should expect an unconventional experience rather than a classic music format: abrupt changes between pieces, unusual textures and occasional quiet moments. The stream is delivered as 192 kbps stereo MP3 from Germany.
