Rádio Cidade Rio de Janeiro

Rádio Cidade is a rock station from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which presents itself as the original rock radio of the city. It plays rock from Brazilian and international artists, covering classic rock and later decades, mixed with presenter chatter and station promotion.

The brand has a long history in Rio, where it became known from the late 1970s for a young, irreverent style of hit radio. Over the years it has moved between the FM dial and internet-only broadcasting, and its frequencies have changed, so a dial position is not given here. Ownership details are not published on the station website. Programming is in Brazilian Portuguese and is aimed at rock fans in Rio and beyond.

Expect a rock-focused playlist with guitar-driven hits, Brazilian rock favourites and international classics. It is a good pick for listeners who enjoy rock in Portuguese and English. This stream is delivered online as low-bitrate AAC+ (about 48 kbps), so it suits mobile connections well.
