Radio Nacional de España

Radio Nacional de España (RNE) is the national public radio broadcaster of Spain and part of the state-owned RTVE. This stream carries its flagship generalist channel, known today as Radio Nacional (formerly Radio 1), in the Madrid feed.

The channel offers news bulletins, current affairs, debate, sport and entertainment in Spanish. RNE began broadcasting in 1937 and is based at the Casa de la Radio in Prado del Rey, Pozuelo de Alarcón, near Madrid. Its other national services include Radio Clásica for classical music and Radio 3 for cultural and alternative music.

Listeners can expect a full-service public station with morning information programmes, interviews, regional and national reports, and regular sports coverage. As a public broadcaster it is funded through RTVE and follows its public service remit. The official RTVE Play radio page lists the current programme grid and live and on-demand content. The stream on RadioKite is a 128 kbps stereo MP3 feed from the Madrid broadcast, and programmes may differ from regional opt-outs heard elsewhere in Spain.
