CBC Music Central
About CBC Music Central
CBC Music Central is the regional feed of CBC Music, the national music network of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, formerly known as CBC Radio 2. This stream is the Central feed, scheduled for Manitoba, Saskatchewan and neighbouring areas, and it is associated with Winnipeg and the Central time zone. The schedule is an adventurous blend of classical music, jazz, folk, blues, roots, indie, world music and contemporary Canadian artists, presented by hosts who introduce the music with knowledge and enthusiasm, and it has long been valued for supporting Canadian composers, performers and recording artists.
The CBC is Canada's national public broadcaster and is funded mainly by the federal government, and the network carries no commercial advertising. Because the regional feeds follow the clock of each time zone, the same programmes are heard at the same local time across the country, which gives the schedule a familiar rhythm in the morning, at midday and in the evening. The language is English, with Canadian accents, and some programmes may be restricted outside Canada because of rights. This stream is delivered as MP3 at 128 kbps, which works on practically every browser, phone and smart speaker and keeps data use moderate. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites.
