Radio Kansas HD1
About Radio Kansas HD1
Radio Kansas HD1 is the HD Radio digital channel of Radio Kansas, a listener-supported public radio service based in Hutchinson, Kansas. The station describes its focus as bringing listeners the world of classical music, and alongside it carries jazz, folk and space music, plus news, talk and feature programs such as Science Saturday and The Moth.
Radio Kansas is run by Hutchinson Community College, and its main analog signals include 90.1 FM, 89.5 and 90.9. It broadcasts in English and serves central and south-central Kansas. The HD1 stream is the digital simulcast of the main FM programming, so what you hear online follows the same schedule as the on-air service.
Expect a calm, informed mix that leans toward classical concert music during much of the day, with specialty shows for jazz, folk and other styles at set times, and spoken-word features between them. Because it is listener-supported, you will also hear member drives and underwriting announcements. The stream is delivered as AAC at roughly 96 kbps in stereo, which gives clean sound well suited to orchestral music.
