1A Radio Deutsch Rap

1A Radio Deutsch Rap plays German hip hop and rap. It comes from the German web radio network 1A Radio, which runs a large number of genre streams, and this channel focuses on the home-grown scene that has become one of the strongest in Europe. The playlist mixes current rap hits and street rap with classics from the 1990s and 2000s, along with melodic rap-pop, battle rap and collaborations that dominate German streaming charts. The lyrics are in German, with the slang and wordplay that give the genre its character.

The 1A Radio network offers listeners a way to stay in one style without commercial presenters, and the Deutsch Rap stream is a convenient way to follow the scene or to discover artists from Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg and beyond. It is also a good listening exercise for learners of German who want to hear modern urban speech, although the language can be explicit. The programme consists mostly of music, with very little spoken content. The stream is delivered as MP3 at 128 kbps, which gives a clear sound with good bass on most devices and keeps data use moderate. It plays in your browser on RadioKite, and you can add it to your favourites.
