Fairchild Radio 96.1 Vancouver

Fairchild Radio 96.1 is a multilingual station in Vancouver, with the call sign CHKG-FM, broadcasting in Chinese, English and other languages. The schedule combines music, news and talk for Chinese-speaking communities. The stream runs around the clock, so there is always something to hear whatever the hour. Because it is delivered over the internet, it is not tied to a single frequency or country, and it can be heard wherever you have a connection.

Canada has a diverse radio landscape, with the public CBC and Radio-Canada services, large commercial groups, campus and community stations and many multilingual and online broadcasters, and its radio reflects a country of English, French and many other languages. Multilingual stations like this one play an essential role for newcomers, who hear their language alongside local information. The stream is delivered as AAC+ at 48 kbps, a very low bitrate that keeps data use minimal and is adequate for speech, although the sound is thin and not suited to music. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites.
