ChineseMusicWorld Radio

ChineseMusicWorld Radio is an online station run by the Chinese Music World website, dedicated to Chinese classical and traditional music. The stream plays instrumental pieces rather than talk, and it identifies itself as the ChineseMusicWorld Radio MP3 stream with the genre Chinese.

The station is an internet-only service. Details about the people behind the site, the playlist and any scheduled programmes are not published on the pages available for this review, so none are claimed here. The site and stream use English in their naming and metadata, while the music itself is Chinese in origin.

Listeners can expect traditional Chinese instrumental music, which often features instruments such as the guzheng, erhu, pipa and bamboo flute, in a calm and relaxing style. The stream is an MP3 feed at 64 kbit/s, stereo, 44.1 kHz, which plays in any browser or standard media player. Because the stream is purely musical, it is a good fit for listeners who want an introduction to Chinese traditional sound worlds, or a restful background for study and work. There is no spoken programming to follow, so language is not a barrier for international audiences.
