The Gamut 820 AM

The Gamut is a freeform music station licensed to Frederick, Maryland, on 820 AM under the call letters WSHE, serving the Washington, D.C. area. It plays a very wide-ranging mix in the adult album alternative tradition, drawing on rock, classic rock, deep cuts and other album tracks rather than a tight playlist of hits.

The station is owned by Hubbard Radio, which also runs WTOP and other Washington stations. The Gamut's programming is shared with the HD3 subchannel of sister station WTOP-FM, and an FM translator at 94.3 serves analog listeners around Frederick. The 820 signal has also carried sports coverage from sister stations, including Washington Capitals, Nationals and Navy games. The call letters were previously WWFD.

Listeners can expect an eclectic, varied mix of songs from many decades, with unexpected pairings and album cuts that mainstream rock stations seldom play. The online stream is delivered through the StreamTheWorld platform; details of its codec and bitrate are not published on the station's site. The station broadcasts in English.
