Smooth East Midlands

Smooth East Midlands is the regional service of Smooth Radio, the UK adult contemporary network owned by Global. It plays soft adult contemporary, easy listening, soul and classic pop, with a relaxed feel suited to daytime and evening listening. This stream is an AAC feed at around 48 kbps.

Smooth Radio stations broadcast a localised breakfast show, while networked programmes from London fill the rest of the day. The network has moved towards somewhat more upbeat music since 2023 and reports a combined weekly audience of around 7.8 million listeners across its stations. Four of its seven FM stations are run by Global itself, while the others are operated under franchise by Communicorp UK. Smooth no longer broadcasts on AM, the last medium wave outlet having closed in February 2025.

Expect familiar, melodic songs with smooth vocals and little speech between tracks beyond presenter links, travel and news updates. Programming is in English and aimed at an adult audience looking for easy, comfortable music.
