SomaFM Groove Salad

This stream carries Groove Salad, the flagship channel of SomaFM, in its lossless version: a nicely chilled plate of ambient and downtempo beats and grooves delivered as FLAC over HLS. The music runs from trip hop and downtempo to lounge electronica, ambient dub and mellow breakbeats, with smooth transitions and a warm, slightly cinematic atmosphere, and the lossless transmission preserves every detail of the original recordings.

SomaFM is an independent, listener-supported internet radio station based in San Francisco that has been on air since 1999. It carries no advertising and is programmed by hand. HLS, short for HTTP Live Streaming, delivers the audio in small segments, and FLAC is a lossless format, which means that this is the highest-fidelity option for the channel and uses much more data than the standard streams, around ten times as much as the 128 kbps versions. It is intended for listeners with a fast, unmetered connection and good headphones or audio equipment, and some browsers or older devices may not be able to play it, in which case RadioKite's other Groove Salad entries are the better choice. You can add it to your favourites if it works well for you.
