NH Radio

NH Radio is the regional radio of Noord-Holland, the Dutch province that includes Amsterdam, Haarlem and the Zaanstreek. The schedule is built around regional news, weather, traffic, sport and culture, together with a broad mix of music for an adult audience, presented in Dutch by hosts who know the area. The tone is friendly and local, and the station is a main source of provincial information.

The Netherlands has a compact but very competitive radio market, with public channels from NPO, regional broadcasters, national commercial networks and many web stations, and Dutch radio is a useful source of listening practice for learners and a link with home for the Dutch abroad. Regional public broadcasters are a particular strength of Dutch media, covering local news, politics and culture that national stations cannot, and they carry limited advertising. The stream is delivered as MP3 at 192 kbps, a generous bitrate that gives speech and music a clear and full sound on most devices. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites.
