SRF 2 Kultur

SRF 2 Kultur is the culture and classical music channel of SRF, the Swiss public broadcaster for German-speaking Switzerland. The programme combines classical music, jazz and world music with literature, drama, radio plays, debates, interviews and background reports on society, science and the arts. It is known for its thoughtful tone and for high-quality productions, and it provides live broadcasts from concert halls and festivals in Switzerland.

SRF, Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen, is part of the SRG SSR group, which is financed mainly by licence fees and carries limited advertising. The channel is a main source of cultural radio in the German-speaking part of the country and appeals to listeners who prefer depth to speed. The presentation is in Swiss Standard German, which is easier for learners to follow than the Swiss German dialects heard on some other SRF programmes. The stream is delivered as MP3 at 128 kbps, which gives a clear sound for speech and acoustic music on most devices and keeps data use moderate. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites for quiet evenings, reading and concentrated work with a Swiss accent.
