SR 1 Europawelle

SR 1 Europawelle is the first radio programme of Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR), the public broadcaster of the German state of Saarland and a member of the ARD. It is a pop and hits service with regular news, information and traffic reports, aimed mainly at listeners in Saarland.

The programme began under the Europawelle name in 1964 and has focused on chart and pop music since the 1970s. As a public service broadcaster, SR is funded mainly through the German broadcasting contribution rather than by selling the station to a commercial owner. Programming is in German, and the service is designed as an everyday companion for a broad audience, from the morning commute through the working day.

This stream carries the live programme as MP3 at 64 kbit/s in stereo, a lower-bandwidth option suited to mobile connections. Listeners can expect a daytime mix of familiar pop songs, short news bulletins and local service information, with the exact programme schedule published by SR on its website. The pages consulted do not give a precise current frequency list, so none is stated here.
