La Mega 97.9

La Mega 97.9 is the stream of WSKQ-FM, a Spanish-language station licensed to New York City. It plays a tropical and Latin mix that includes salsa, merengue, bachata and reggaeton, and it is one of the best-known Spanish-language radio brands in the New York area.

WSKQ-FM is owned by Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS), whose other New York station is WPAT-FM. The frequency was previously held by WEVD, which began on 107.5 MHz in 1951, and SBS took over 97.9 FM in the late 1980s. The station is presented in Spanish and is aimed at the Latin Caribbean communities of the tri-state area.
