SomaFM Metal Detector

This stream carries SomaFM's Metal Detector channel, which covers heavy metal in all its forms, from black to doom, prog to sludge, thrash to post, stoner to crossover and punk to industrial. The selection is deliberately wide, giving fans of different subgenres a reason to stay: blast beats and tremolo-picked riffs share space with slow, crushing doom, progressive complexity and the fuzz-soaked grooves of stoner rock, with established names beside new releases from the underground.

SomaFM is an independent, listener-supported internet radio station that has broadcast from San Francisco since 1999 and plays no commercials. Metal Detector is programmed by fans of the genre who follow the scene closely, so the selection feels informed rather than generic. This entry is the AAC version at 128 kbps, a more efficient codec than MP3 that delivers clearer sound at the same bitrate and works in current browsers and phones. The artist and title are displayed in the player as each song changes. RadioKite also lists another format of the same channel and a separate Metal Detector entry, which play the same programme, so you can choose whichever suits your device and add it to your favourites.
