SomaFM Vaporwaves

Vaporwaves is a SomaFM channel with a single focus: all vaporwave, all the time. The genre grew out of internet culture in the early 2010s and works with slowed-down, chopped and looped samples from 1980s and 1990s pop, smooth jazz, elevator music, advertising jingles and corporate sounds, turning them into dreamy, hazy and sometimes eerie collages. The channel also features related styles such as future funk, mallsoft and synthwave-tinged pieces, all with the nostalgic, slightly surreal aesthetic that fans love.

SomaFM is an independent, listener-supported internet radio station based in San Francisco that has been on the air since 1999 and plays no commercials. Its channels are programmed by hand by people who love the music, and the stream flows without advertising or talk breaks. This entry is the AAC version at 128 kbps, a more modern codec than MP3 that delivers clearer sound at the same bitrate and is supported by current browsers and phones. The artist and title are displayed in the player as each track changes.
