Soul Radio

Soul Radio is a Dutch internet station playing the coolest soul classics and best new soul, together with funk, R&B and disco. The programme moves between the golden age of Motown, Stax and Philadelphia soul and the contemporary neo-soul and R&B artists who continue the tradition, so you can hear a 1960s classic next to a recent release that follows the same feeling. The sound is warm and groovy, with expressive vocals, live horns and strings, and rhythm sections that give the songs their drive.

The station offers an alternative to NPO Soul & Jazz, the public broadcaster's digital channel for similar music, and it is aimed at listeners who want a dedicated soul stream with a personal touch. The Netherlands has a devoted soul and funk scene, with clubs, record collectors and festivals, and the station reflects that enthusiasm. Announcements are in Dutch, but the music is mainly in English, so the programme can be enjoyed anywhere. The stream is delivered as AAC+ at 96 kbps, an efficient codec that provides a good sound at a moderate bitrate and suits mobile connections. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installing any software, and you can add it to your favourites.
