Rainwave Chiptunes

Rainwave Chiptunes is the chiptune channel of Rainwave, a community-driven online radio service devoted to video game music. It plays soundtracks from classic and modern games built on sound chips and tracker-style synthesis, alongside original chiptune work by independent artists, and it continues to add new material on a semi-regular basis.

Rainwave was created by Robert McAuley and grew out of an earlier Icecast helper called Raincast. It is a free service funded mainly by its founder and supplemented by listener donations. Its distinguishing feature is interactivity: the system builds elections of three songs, and listeners vote for what plays next, request songs and rate tracks, which shapes the rotation over time. Chiptunes is one of the site's several channels, which also include Game, Covers, OCRemix and All.

Expect bleeps, arpeggios and energetic retro melodies with no talk breaks, mostly instrumental. The site is in English. This listing carries the Opus-in-Ogg version of the HTTPS stream.
