1LIVE HipHop

1LIVE HipHop is a digital channel of 1LIVE, the youth radio station of Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), the public broadcaster for North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. It plays hip hop and rap, and the stream's own metadata also references R&B, so expect some urban and soul-influenced tracks.

1LIVE is aimed at a young audience and is part of the ARD public radio family, which means it is funded by licence fees rather than advertising. Besides its main FM programme, WDR offers themed web channels like this one for listeners who want a single genre. The editorial language is German, and the music is a mix of international releases, mostly in English, and German-language rap.

Expect a music-focused stream with little talk and a current rotation of popular hip hop. A detailed schedule is not published on the stream itself. The stream is delivered over HTTPS as 128 kbps stereo MP3, and it plays in any common browser or radio app. WDR has announced plans to reorganise its youth channels under the 1LIVE brand, so the channel name may change in future.
