RadioKyklos Greek Hip Hop

RadioKyklos plays Greek hip hop and rap. The programme concentrates on the Greek scene, which has developed its own voice since the 1990s and now includes everything from lyrical, socially minded rap to trap, drill and melodic urban pop. Lyrics are in Greek, often with a distinct Athenian or Thessalonian flavour, and the beats range from boom bap to modern electronic production. The channel also includes older favourites, giving a sense of how the genre evolved in the country.

Because mainstream radio in Greece gives limited space to rap, a dedicated online stream is an important outlet for artists and fans. It is also an opportunity for people outside Greece, including the large Greek diaspora and learners of the language, to hear how young Greeks express themselves today. The stream is hosted on a community-oriented streaming platform, which keeps the service simple, with a continuous flow of music and very little talk. The content may include explicit language. The stream is delivered as MP3 at 128 kbps, which gives a clear sound with solid bass on most devices and uses a moderate amount of data. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites to keep up with Greek rap.
