Star FM

Star FM is a South African station playing amapiano, house, pop, hip hop and soul. The playlist is a snapshot of urban South African taste, with the log-drum basslines and jazzy piano of amapiano, deep and soulful house, chart pop, R&B and hip hop from local and international artists, all presented by friendly hosts who speak English and mix in local expressions. The mood is upbeat and stylish, designed for the commute, the office and weekends.

South Africa has one of the most dynamic music scenes on the continent, and amapiano in particular has grown from the townships of Gauteng into a global phenomenon, so a station that features it prominently offers a fresh view of current trends. The online stream allows South Africans abroad and fans of African dance music to follow the sound at any time. As a commercial service, it carries advertising and promotional messages between songs. The feed does not declare a fixed codec or bitrate, and the sound quality may vary with the source. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installing any software, and you can add it to your favourites for those moments when you want to feel the groove of Johannesburg.
