SWR1 Baden-Württemberg

SWR1 Baden-Württemberg is the adult-oriented service of Südwestrundfunk for the south-western state, with pop and rock oldies, news and information. The programme is aimed at listeners who like melodic music from the 1960s to today, and it combines familiar songs with regional news, traffic, weather and thoughtful features, presented in German in a calm and friendly tone. It is one of the most listened-to stations in the region.

Germany has one of the largest radio markets in Europe, with the regional public broadcasters of the ARD network, the national Deutschlandradio services and a wide range of private stations and web channels, and German-language radio is a rich source of listening practice for learners and a link with home for Germans abroad. As a public service financed mainly by licence fees, it carries limited advertising compared with commercial stations. The stream is delivered as MP3 at 128 kbps, a standard quality that sounds clear on most devices and keeps data use moderate. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installation, and you can add it to your favourites.
